About Me

Conducting at the 75th anniversary celebration of the BRH Choir

Hi! My name is Drew Jackson, and I am excited to start my first year of teaching. I recently received my Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in Choral Music from Baylor University. This past semester, I had the privilege of working with the staff at Midway Middle School and China Spring Elementary to fulfill the student teaching requirement of my degree.

I grew up in Carthage, TX, where I developed my love for music. Growing up in a small town, I was able to involve myself in several organizations. Among other things, choir and band were places that allowed me to express myself in ways that were not only unique to my non-musical endeavors but also in ways that were unique to each other.

Once I started at Baylor, my love for music and community resulted in my involvement in several campus ensembles and organizations. I participated in Concert Choir, A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers, and The Baylor University Golden Wave Band. I also served as the Musical Director for the Baylor Religious Hour Choir for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years. Some other volunteering opportunities have included running sound for FBC Waco, teaching with OSO Musical, an after-school music program for kids with special needs, and filling in as music minister for New Hope Baptist of Gary, TX.

Vocationally, I have also had the opportunity to gain musical and community-building skills. While at Baylor, I have served as the Youth Choir Director for Seventh and James Baptist Church, a Community Leader at North Russell Hall, and a Pastoral Musician for Baylor Spiritual Life. I have also worked numerous summer camps ranging from band to choir to church.
